One Handed Bowline

"Life Saving Knot"

OK, you know how to form a bowline. That is useful for rescue lines. but what if you are hanging from a cliff and someone gets a rope to you. you can't let go of the ledge or you fall. What do you do? Tie a one handed bowline.

Step #1 Hold the rope around your waist (W) and pass the running end over the standing part Step #2 Without letting go of the running end, pass this over and around the rope towards you to form a loop around your wrist.

Step #3 Pass the running end behind the standing part and take hold of it again. Step #4 Pull the running end through the loop to form the bowline. Secure with an overhand knot(K).
